I'm thinking that a true smile has a connection to the personal other (meditative state, connection with God, "Practicing the Presence", Holy Spirit, etc.).
I'm thinking that the crown-of-the-head sensation which occurs during a good smile/laugh is the same stuff of the, like, effervescent peace attained through meditation, or the satisfaction which comes from focused prayer.
Seems like there may some merit to a personal other (etheral self, spirit), and that we can feel it, but haven't been trained to do so by a society pervaded by belief that anything not measurable by current instruments must be the paranormal, and therefore, a falsity. Before the electromagnetic spectrum was proposed, no instruments existed to measure it...
